In this policy, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to Race Day Events (Pty) Ltd trading as Grand Touring Co. We are the party responsible for your personal information (the “responsible party” under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (“POPIA”), and the “data controller” under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”), where it applies).
We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, how we protect it, and the rights you have.
2. What this policy covers
This policy applies to personal information we collect when you:
- visit grandtouringco.co.za;
- enquire about or book a Grand Touring Co. experience;
- communicate with us by email, contact form, phone, or social media; or
- otherwise interact with our brand.
3. The information we collect
Information you give us:
- Booking and contact details — your name, email address, phone number, and the details of your booking when you enquire about or reserve an experience.
- Driver information — because Grand Touring Co. experiences involve guests driving high-performance vehicles, we may collect and verify driving-licence details and related eligibility information in connection with your booking, for safety and vehicle eligibility reasons.
- Payment details — when you pay for an experience, your card and billing details are collected and processed by our payment provider (see Section 6). We do not store your full card number on our systems.
- Messages — any information you choose to include when you contact us.
Information we collect automatically:
- Usage and device data — when you visit our website we collect technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, the pages you view, and how you arrived at our site. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies.
- Analytics and advertising data — we use Google Analytics 4 and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel to understand how visitors use our site and to measure and improve our advertising. These are only activated after you give consent through our cookie banner. See our Cookie Policy for full detail.
4. How we use your information, and our lawful basis
We use your personal information to:
- Respond to your enquiries and provide information about our experiences — on the basis of our legitimate interests, and steps taken at your request before entering a contract.
- Process and manage your booking and deliver the experience — on the basis of performing a contract with you.
- Verify driving eligibility and ensure the safe operation of the experience — on the basis of performing a contract, our legitimate interests in operating safely, and our legal obligations.
- Process payments — on the basis of performing a contract with you.
- Send you marketing about Grand Touring Co. (where you have asked us to, or where permitted by law) — on the basis of your consent and our legitimate interests.
- Measure and improve our website and advertising — on the basis of your consent (cookies) and our legitimate interests.
- Keep records and comply with our legal, tax, and accounting obligations — on the basis of our legal obligations.
Under POPIA, we process your personal information lawfully and in a reasonable manner that does not infringe your privacy, for the specific purposes set out above.
You can opt out of marketing at any time — every marketing email contains an unsubscribe link, or you can email us at the address in Section 1.
5. Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies on our website. Non-essential cookies — including analytics and advertising cookies (Google Analytics 4 and the Meta Pixel) — are only set, and you can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the cookie settings link on the ‘Manage cookies’ link on the bottom right side of the site.

6. Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the following categories of recipients, and only as necessary:
- Payment processing — Peach Payments, which securely processes your card payment. Your payment details are handled by Peach Payments under their own privacy terms.
- Analytics — Google (Google Analytics 4), to help us understand website usage.
- Advertising and measurement — Meta Platforms (the Meta Pixel and Conversions API), to measure and improve our advertising.
- Website and email infrastructure — our website hosting provider and email service providers, who process data on our behalf.
- Professional advisers and authorities — our accountants, lawyers, or regulators, where required by law or to protect our legal rights.
Where these parties process personal information on our behalf, they are required to keep it secure and to use it only for the purposes we specify.
7. International transfers
Some of the service providers above — including Google and Meta — process data on servers located outside South Africa and outside the European Economic Area (for example, in the United States or Ireland). Where your personal information is transferred across borders, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected to a standard consistent with POPIA and, where applicable, GDPR, including relying on the safeguards and contractual protections offered by those providers.
8. How long we keep your information
We keep your personal information only for as long as we need it:
- Booking and payment records — for as long as necessary to provide the experience and afterwards for the period required by South African tax and company law (generally five years).
- Enquiries that do not result in a booking — for a reasonable period and then deleted.
- Marketing data — until you withdraw your consent or unsubscribe.
- Website and analytics data — for the retention period set within our analytics tools.
9. Your rights
You have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information, where there is no lawful reason for us to keep it;
- object to, or ask us to restrict, our processing of your information;
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent;
- request a copy of your information in a portable format (where GDPR applies); and
- complain to a regulator.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you may lodge a complaint:

- In the EU/EEA or UK — with your local data protection supervisory authority.

11. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against loss, unauthorised access, and misuse. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to keep our systems up to date.
12. Children
Our experiences and website are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top. Where changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to bring them to your attention.
